Is a Synthetic Rubber Custom Seal Right for You?

November 28, 2017 by dave

Custom seals are critical components used in a number of industries, such as aerospace, aircraft, automotive, communications, military, power generation, transportation and more. And unless these parts are manufactured from high quality materials and to exact tolerances, they can fail and result in faulty performance and even safety risks.

If you are looking for a reputable company to partner with you on your custom seal needs, you’ve come to the right place. With over 74 years in the industry, Technical Specialties Company, Inc. has the knowledge and experience to offer you wide range of solutions using only the highest quality workmanship and materials available.

An example of one material we often use for seals is synthetic rubbers, like Neoprene. In addition to being exceptionally versatile, synthetic rubber materials are resistant to a number of things, including:

  • Petroleum base solvents, oils, and alkalis, allowing it to handle harsh environment applications
  • Sun and various weather elements
  • Damage caused by twisting and flexing
  • Wide temperature ranges from -40 degrees to +230 degrees

There are also different grades of synthetic rubbers that include:

  • Cloth Inserted with cotton or polyester ply
  • FDA
  • High Grade
  • Medium Grade
  • Neoprene Sponge
  • Pressure Sensitive Adhesive (PSA) Backing

While usually black, seals made with synthetic rubbers can also be manufactured in almost any color required.

Let’s get together and talk about your specific application needs. Together we can determine the type of material and manufacturing process that will result in a quality part you can depend on. Fill out our online contact form or call us today at 800-874-0877.
